As of  December 31,  2012 Judge Wilborn will have served over 40 years in a courtroom.

It is with mixed emotions that I, Carrol Wilborn, Jr. announce my
intention not to seek a 7th four-year term as judge of the 344th District Court serving Chambers County, Texas. Thanks to the voters, citizens and elected officials of Chambers County, I have been serving the public in Chambers County for over 38 years.

The first for five years of my career I served as an Assistant County Attorney and Assistant District Attorney, then served as your elected District Attorney from 1977 to 1983. From 1983 until now, I have served as the Judge of the 344th District Court. During this time, I have been able to serve the citizens of Chambers County and the State of Texas in a state-wide capacity by Supreme Court appointment to the Judicial Advisory Council to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for over 12 years, as the Governor’s Chairman of the Criminal Procedure Revision Committee and a few year’s back as the Chairman of the Criminal Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.

Serving as the District Judge of a court that is basically a suburb of one of the largest metropolitan populations in America, bisected by one of the heaviest traveled interstate highways has been challenging, but I have always tried to see that justice was done in all domestic, criminal and civil cases with fairness, impartiality and integrity.

My thanks to the citizens of this great State and particularly Chambers County for allowing me to serve them for so long. By the end of my present term, December 31, 2012, I will have been actively working in a courtroom setting for over 40 years.

I look forward to retirement and continuing my service as a retired Senior Judge in a visiting capacity throughout southeast Texas. Again, my heartfelt thanks from my family and myself for your many years of continued support.

As I travel throughout the State of Texas as a Judge and in other capacities mentioned earlier, I have always been extremely proud to be from Chambers County and to live among and serve such fine citizens.
